Gwanak Sarang Gift Certificate 5% Discount, 4 Billion Won Issued

Starting August 19 at 10 AM, purchases available through the newly updated ‘Seoulpay+’ app
Expected to ease residents' price burdens amid prolonged economic downturn and boost local economy

Gwanak Sarang Gift Certificate 5% Discount, 4 Billion Won Issued

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will issue Gwanak Love Gift Certificates worth 4 billion KRW starting at 10 a.m. on the 19th to mark the end of the vacation season.

The district is issuing the 3rd series of Gwanak Love Gift Certificates to support small business owners and residents who are struggling due to the prolonged economic downturn and decreased consumer sentiment caused by high inflation and high interest rates. As with the previous 2nd issuance, the district will fully cover the discount subsidy.

The Gwanak Love Gift Certificates can be purchased at a 5% discount up to a limit of 500,000 KRW per person, with a holding limit of 1,500,000 KRW. They can be purchased with cash or registered credit cards through the newly updated ‘Seoulpay+’ app.

The purchased Gwanak Love Gift Certificates can be used at 10,461 affiliated stores within the district. The list of affiliated stores can be checked in detail through the ‘Find Stores’ menu in the Seoulpay+ app.

Purchases can be canceled at any time regardless of the period. For balance refunds, if more than 60% of the gift certificate has been used, the remaining balance excluding the 5% discount support will be refunded.

Meanwhile, this marks the third issuance this year, including those in January and May, totaling 19 billion KRW worth of Gwanak Love Gift Certificates. Especially amid the ongoing heatwave and rising food prices, this third issuance is expected to serve as a catalyst to stabilize the cost of living for residents.

Additionally, individual consumers using the Gwanak Love Gift Certificates can benefit not only from the purchase discount but also apply for pre-income deduction at the time of purchase, allowing for year-end tax deductions within the deduction limit. Since there are no fees for payments made with the Gwanak Love Gift Certificates, small business owners who are affiliated stores can also reduce their economic burden.

Mayor Park Jun-hee stated, “To protect small business owners and reduce the burden of food prices on residents amid the ongoing heatwave and prolonged economic downturn, we have decided to fully fund the 3rd issuance of the Gwanak Love Gift Certificates. We will continue to do our best to operate the Gwanak Love Gift Certificates to increase small business sales and revitalize the local economy.”
