Seungri Still the Same After Release... "Oppa Will Buy It" at Bali Club

Repeatedly Seen at Local Club

Seungri, a former member of the group Big Bang, recently denied reports that he attended the Burning Sun event in Indonesia. However, on the 12th, Maeil Business Newspaper reported that Seungri was spotted multiple times on the 10th at S Club and other locations on the beach in the Bali area of Indonesia.

In a submitted video, when a woman presumed to be Korean at a local club asked, "Seunghyun oppa (Seungri's real name), will you buy it for me?" Seungri replied, "I will, I will." Additionally, Seungri and his party reportedly invited other Korean tourists, saying, "Our accommodation is five minutes away; let's go there and hang out together."

Earlier, on the 9th (local time), U.S.-based Hallyu media outlet 'Allkpop' and others reported that Seungri would participate in an event called 'Burning Sun Surabaya' at a club in Indonesia on the 31st. Posters and other materials were shared via social media accounts the day before. However, Seungri told domestic media, "The reports about the Indonesian club are completely false. We plan to strongly respond through a local law firm regarding violations of portrait rights and defamation due to false information."

Kang Kyung-yoon, an SBS reporter who appeared in a BBC documentary revisiting the Burning Sun scandal, shared an update on Seungri’s status on SBS Radio's 'Kim Taehyun's Political Show' in May. He said, "(Seungri) is reportedly making great efforts to continue his business. Even before his detention, he personally wanted to focus more on business than his singing career, but that direction went terribly wrong and led to criminal acts. Nevertheless, he is trying to continue."

Seungri debuted in 2006 as a member of the group Big Bang. During their peak, Big Bang released numerous hit songs and was a K-pop star recognized both domestically and internationally. However, Seungri was sentenced to prison for charges including embezzling funds from Burning Sun, a club in Gangnam, Seoul, where he was a director, and facilitating prostitution for foreign investors. As the controversy grew, he withdrew from Big Bang in March 2019. After serving one year and six months, Seungri was released in February last year upon completion of his sentence.
