The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 12th that they held a business meetup day with travel tech startups that assist travel.

This meetup day was organized to review industry issues with the professional capabilities of the organization's employees and to promote open innovation by exploring solutions in the tourism sector together with travel tech startups.


The event was attended by about 100 people, including business managers from seven departments within the Korea Tourism Organization?International Marketing Office, International Marketing Support Office, MICE Office, National Tourism Office, Regional Tourism Office, Tourism Industry Office, and Tourism Content Office?as well as 22 travel tech startups. They shared various insights on topics such as revitalizing inbound and domestic tourism, improving tourism convenience, and infrastructure enhancement.


The first part, themed "New Ways to Solve Tourism Challenges," featured presentations including ▲Current status of open innovation in the tourism sector (Tap Angel Partners) ▲Case study on solving tourism issues based on mobile passports (Road System) ▲Changes in the travel tech ecosystem (Onda). In the second part, startups presented proposals utilizing their business items and core technologies, followed by free exchanges of opinions with the organization's employees to verify and refine innovative ideas.

Key travel tech companies participating that day included ▲Lala Station (building LiveSaaS solutions for travel platforms and attracting foreign tourists through travel live content services) ▲Soo & Carrots (a social travel platform for foreign travelers) ▲Orange Square (an all-in-one prepaid card exclusively for foreign visitors to Korea, equipped with payment, currency exchange, transportation, and benefits) ▲Travel Makers (a premium long-term accommodation platform ranging from a minimum of one week to a maximum of one year) ▲Travelution (a solution for building D2C travel product sales pages targeting foreigners), which introduced their technologies and services and conducted idea proposal presentations.


Kwon Jong-sul, head of the Tourism Enterprise Support Office at the Korea Tourism Organization, said, "Tourism startups with innovative ideas and technologies are a major driving force in the tourism industry, leading qualitative improvements in services across all areas including transportation, accommodation, and experiences." He added, "We will support the growth of tourism startups while discovering models to solve challenges in the tourism sector and work to spread successful cases."
