South Korea's food industry is once again gaining attention on the global stage. Korean Samgyetang has successfully entered the European Union (EU) market, generating a strong response in Germany.
Maniker F&G announced on the 12th that it has been accelerating efforts to establish a foothold in the European market, starting with the first export of Samgyetang for the EU market on May 9.
Korean Samgyetang produced by Maniker F&G is being sold in supermarkets across Germany as well as on local online malls. Encouraged by the positive response, Maniker F&G is reportedly preparing for additional orders of Samgyetang in Germany and is in discussions to export to other European countries such as France and the Netherlands.
In addition to Samgyetang, Maniker F&G is focusing on exporting frozen poultry products like chicken, which are well-known to European consumers due to the influence of K-content such as dramas and variety shows. The company’s popular home meal replacement (HMR) brands in Korea, including the Basasak Chicken series and Honey Crunch series, are receiving positive evaluations locally and are currently under export negotiations.
A Maniker F&G representative stated, "The popularity of domestically produced Samgyetang in Germany is largely due to the K-food craze spreading throughout Europe." He added, "We will continue to make efforts to diversify product categories and export regions, from Samgyetang to frozen poultry products."
Maniker F&G’s Samgyetang, which has reached European dining tables, is also sold at domestic offline discount stores such as Lotte Mart, E-Mart Traders, and Homeplus, as well as on online platforms including Coupang, Naver Smart Store, and open markets.
