Kakao Mobility Completes 'Junior Lab 2nd Cohort' Coding Camp with Taxi Drivers' Families Participation

Application Competition Ratio 10:1... Coding Camp for 30 Participants to be Held

Kakao Mobility announced on the 12th that it has successfully concluded the 'Kakao Mobility Junior Lab 2nd Cohort,' which provides coding education and mentoring to teenage children and grandchildren of taxi drivers.


Kakao Mobility Junior Lab is part of Kakao Mobility's social impact project, the '201 Campaign.' It was launched last year in collaboration with the social welfare foundation Children and Future Foundation to support the growth of teenage family members in taxi driver households and to practice continuous mutual growth with the taxi industry.

In its second year, Kakao Mobility Junior Lab recorded a high competition rate of 10:1 for applications. Among the final selected participants were 30 middle school students who are teenage children and grandchildren of taxi drivers nationwide. They participated in a 3-night, 4-day camp held from August 1 to 4 at Kakao AI Campus in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.


The 2nd cohort camp featured various programs, including ▲'Coding Education' using specialized LEGO kits to service various smart mobility ideas such as autonomous vehicles ▲'Mentoring Sessions' with Kakao Mobility service planners and developers ▲Entertainment activities such as 'Robot Relay Races, Robot Wrestling Competitions, and Mini Games.'


Ryu Geung-seon, CEO of Kakao Mobility, said, "The 2nd Kakao Mobility Junior Lab was designed based on the IT capabilities of Korea's leading mobility company to enhance participants' understanding and interest in future mobility technologies." He added, "We plan to continue introducing mutual growth programs that strengthen partnerships with taxi drivers, our partners in mobility technology development."
