Gyeonggi-do, Comprehensive Audit of Namyangju City... August 28 to September 9

Gyeonggi-do, Comprehensive Audit of Namyangju City... August 28 to September 9 Gyeonggi Provincial Government

Gyeonggi Province will conduct a comprehensive audit of Namyangju City from the 28th of this month to the 9th of next month. To prepare for this, Gyeonggi Province will begin a preliminary investigation starting on the 13th of this month.

In this audit, Gyeonggi Province plans to enhance communication and consultation with the audited institutions to increase acceptance and satisfaction with the audit. From the initial stages such as audit planning and preliminary investigation to the final stages, various external experts including citizen auditors will be involved to strengthen objectivity and fairness.

Additionally, to guarantee the autonomy of cities and counties, the audit will focus primarily on delegated tasks stipulated by laws or funded by the national government or Gyeonggi Province budgets. Autonomous tasks will only be audited if there is suspicion of illegality based on reports or media coverage.

Reports will be accepted remotely from the 13th of this month to the 20th of next month via the Audit Officer (gg0007@gg.go.kr), phone (031-8030-4014), and fax (031-8030-4019).

The subjects of reports include various inconveniences experienced by residents, illegal or improper conduct by public officials, corruption by public officials, fraudulent claims on public finances, and illegal operations. However, matters involved in investigations or trials, issues that may infringe on private rights or privacy, and matters already audited or under audit by other institutions are excluded.

Furthermore, if public officials of the audited institutions voluntarily report their own mistakes during the audit period, penalties will be reduced or leniency granted as much as possible. Minor mistakes made by public officials in the course of diligently performing their duties with conviction will be boldly exempted.

Sung Hyun-sook, Audit Officer of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We will actively reflect residents' reports and opinions from citizen auditors to protect residents' rights and interests. At the same time, by increasing audit acceptance based on the reliability of audit dispositions and satisfaction of audited institutions, we will strive to ensure that residents can feel the effects of the audit."
