As the heatwave continues with a maximum perceived temperature around 35 degrees Celsius in most regions nationwide, casualties and property damage caused by the heat are also increasing.
According to the 'Heatwave Response Status Report' from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 11th, the cumulative number of heat-related illness patients reached 2,141 as of the 9th, exceeding 2,122 during the same period last year. One additional death was reported on the 9th, bringing the total death toll to 20.
The number of heatwave days was 13.6, higher than 11.6 days during the same period last year.
Additionally, this heatwave caused the deaths of 526,000 poultry and 36,000 pigs, totaling 562,000 livestock.
Aquaculture damage also occurred, with 500,000 farmed fish including 212,000 flatfish lost across 55 fishing households.
As of 5 p.m. the previous day, a total of 178 areas were under heatwave warnings.
To prepare for the heatwave situation, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety activated Level 1 of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) on the 31st of last month and raised the heatwave crisis alert level to 'Severe.'
