Positive Feedback on Growth Ladder Support and Regional Specialized Enterprise Development
Jeollanam-do was selected as an excellent institution in the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' '2024 (2023 performance) Regional Industry Promotion Project' performance evaluation.
According to Jeollanam-do on the 11th, last year, a total of 19.7 billion KRW was invested to promote 68 support projects, including 53 research and development projects, 8 commercialization projects, and 7 policy designation projects, focusing on regional specialized industries such as materials and components, energy, and healthcare. As a result, notable achievements were made in growth ladder support and city/county-based business sectors.

In addition, through the establishment of an industry-academia-research network and close collaboration with Jeonnam Technopark, Jeonnam Regional Industry Promotion Agency, universities, and companies, the project was recognized for achievements such as 325 new jobs, 89.7 billion KRW in commercialization sales, and 172 patents and certifications, leading to its selection as an excellent institution. Consequently, an additional 1.78 billion KRW in national funds was secured as incentive project funding.
The Regional Industry Promotion Project is a program where the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and 14 non-metropolitan cities and provinces annually establish regional industry promotion plans and support small and medium-sized enterprises in regional specialized industry sectors.
Soyeongho, Director of the Strategic Industry Bureau of Jeollanam-do, stated, "We will not be satisfied with this achievement and will foster regional industries more substantively by providing customized support to SMEs with high growth potential to quickly respond to global and domestic environmental changes such as technological advancement and supply chain shifts."
