Actor Lee Dong-wook, Singer Minho Spotted in the Audience Seats
Actors Lee Dong-wook and SHINee's Minho (Choi Min-ho), among other Korean star celebrities, were spotted on the broadcast screen of the Paris Olympics.
On the 10th (local time), the Korean women's table tennis team competed in the bronze medal match of the women's team event at the 2024 Paris Olympics held at the South Paris Arena in France. The Korean team, consisting of Shin Yu-bin, Lee Eun-hye (Korean Air), and Jeon Ji-hee (Mirae Asset Securities), defeated Germany 3-0 to claim the bronze medal.
This is the first bronze medal since Kim Kyung-ah, Dang Ye-seo, and Park Mi-young won bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Across both men and women, it is the first medal in 12 years since the men's team event at the 2012 London Olympics.
Familiar faces were present in the stands. Lee Dong-wook and Minho visited the match to cheer on the players. They held the Taegeukgi flag and loudly cheered every time the Korean players scored. The two also gave thumbs-up gestures toward the cameras filming them. When the team secured the bronze medal, they stood up and waved their hands toward the players in joy.
Netizens who saw this expressed their delight with comments such as "Jealous of watching the bronze medal match live," "Good-looking people get shown on camera automatically," and "Is that really Lee Dong-wook and Minho caught on screen?"
Lee Dong-wook and Minho were selected as 'Olympic Friends,' promotional ambassadors for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) tasked with spreading the value of last year's Olympics. It is known that the two went to Paris to support the Korean athletes participating in this Olympics. They also shared their support for the Olympics in modern pentathlon, taekwondo, swimming, and more through their Instagram and other social media (SNS) platforms.
Meanwhile, besides the two, actor couple Joo Sang-wook and Cha Ye-ryun, as well as IOC athlete representative Yoo Seung-min, also cheered for the Korean team from the stands. Not only Korea but stars from around the world visited their home country’s venues until the final stages of the Olympics, heating up the Olympic atmosphere.
Actor Tom Cruise previously attended the women's team gymnastics event at the Paris Olympics on the 28th of last month (local time) to watch the "gymnastics queen" Simone Biles compete, and also appeared at the women's soccer final between the United States and Brazil the day before. The United States won that match, bringing home the gold medal for the first time in 12 years.
Rapper and actor Snoop Dogg attended as part of NBC’s broadcast team, the official Olympic broadcaster in the United States. Singer and actress Ariana Grande also visited the Olympic venue.
