On the 10th (Korean time), Kim Su-hyun competed in the women's 81kg weightlifting category at the 2024 Paris Olympics held at the South Paris Arena in Paris, France, where she recorded 110kg in the snatch, 140kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 250kg, finishing in 6th place amid difficult-to-understand decisions.
Kim Su-hyun successfully lifted 110kg in her second snatch attempt and then succeeded with 113kg in her third attempt. Before this competition, Kim's personal best was 112kg. However, after a video review, the attempt was declared a failure.
In the clean and jerk, Kim Su-hyun attempted 140kg in her first attempt and lifted it easily. In her second attempt, she initially aimed for 145kg but raised the weight to 147kg. Kim approached the lift with a stable posture and succeeded in lifting 147kg, but after video review, the judges ruled the second attempt as a failure.
Immediately in her third attempt, Kim Su-hyun tried 147kg again but lost strength. This time, she was unable to lift the weight and had to leave the competition with regret. Had she succeeded, it would have been her personal best in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total.
In this event, Solfrid Koanda (Norway) won the gold medal with a snatch of 121kg, a clean and jerk of 154kg, and a total of 275kg. Sarah Ahmed (Egypt) took second place with a total of 268kg (snatch 117kg, clean and jerk 151kg), and Neisi Dajomes (Ecuador) placed third with a total of 267kg (snatch 122kg, clean and jerk 145kg).
