Shin Jeong-hwi Advances to Men's 10m Platform Diving Semifinals [Paris Olympics]

Shin Jeong-hwi (Korea Sports Promotion Foundation) advanced to the semifinals in the men's 10m platform diving at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Shin Jeong-hwi scored a total of 369.20 points from six attempts in the men's 10m platform diving preliminaries held at the Paris Aquatic Center, ranking 17th out of 26 competitors and advancing to the semifinals, where 18 athletes compete.

Thanks to a withdrawal of a quota spot by an athlete from another country, Shin Jeong-hwi secured a valuable achievement by catching the last train to Paris and advancing to the semifinals. Kim Young-taek (Jeju Provincial Office), who also competed in the same event, ranked 24th with a total of 320.40 points and was eliminated in the preliminaries.

Shin Jeong-hwi will compete in the semifinals at 5 p.m. on the 10th.

In the men's 80kg taekwondo category, Seo Geon-woo (Korea National Sport University) finished 4th, missing out on a medal. Seo Geon-woo lost 1-2 in round scores (4-2, 9-13, 8-12) to Iran's Mehran Barhorzadi in the semifinals held at the Grand Palais in Paris. He then lost 0-2 in round scores (2-15, 8-11) to Eddy Hrnic (Denmark) in the bronze medal match, finishing 4th in the tournament.

In men's 89kg weightlifting, Yoo Dong-ju (Jinan County Office) lifted 168kg in the snatch, 203kg in the clean and jerk, for a total of 371kg, placing 6th out of 12 competitors at the South Paris Arena in Paris. Although he roared after lifting his personal best of 168kg in the snatch, he was unable to increase the weight in the clean and jerk, and thus did not realize his medal dream in his third Olympic challenge.

In women's freestyle wrestling 62kg, Lee Han-bit (Wanju County Office) lost 0-3 to Louisa Niemesch (Germany) in the round of 16 (first round). As a result, the Korean wrestling representatives at the Paris Olympics?Lee Seung-chan (Gangwon Sports Council) in men's Greco-Roman 130kg, Kim Seung-jun (Sungshin Cement) in men's Greco-Roman 97kg, and Lee Han-bit?all failed to advance past the first round, facing bitter disappointment.

In artistic swimming, Lee Ri-young (Busan Swimming Federation) and Heo Yoon-seo (Sungkyunkwan University) scored 227.5667 points (artistic score 84.5000 + execution score 143.0667) in the duet technical routine held at the Paris Aquatic Center, ranking 12th. Lee Ri-young and Heo Yoon-seo, who competed in this event for the first time in 12 years since the Park Hyun-sun and Park Hyun-ha sisters at the 2012 London Games, will aim for a comeback and a historic first top 10 finish in the duet free routine at 2:30 a.m. on the 11th.
