Heatwave with a perceived temperature reaching 35 degrees Celsius will continue over the weekend. While there will be occasional clouds nationwide, scattered showers accompanied by thunder and lightning are expected mainly in the western regions.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted the daytime high temperatures on the 10th to be between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius, which is higher than the average temperature of 28 to 32 degrees. As of 8 a.m., temperatures in major cities were Seoul 27.4°C, Incheon 27.4°C, Daejeon 27.8°C, Gwangju 27.8°C, Daegu 26.1°C, Ulsan 26.6°C, and Busan 29.6°C.

Throughout the weekend, the sky will be occasionally cloudy nationwide. Due to the influence of the North Pacific High, hot and humid air will flow in, causing daytime temperatures to rise and the atmosphere to become unstable, resulting in scattered showers in various areas.

From the morning of the 10th, showers will pour in Jeolla region, western inland areas of Gyeongnam, and Jeju Island. From the afternoon, showers will occur in the metropolitan area, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, Chungcheong region, and western inland areas of Gyeongbuk. Most showers will cease by night, but some areas in the metropolitan region, northern inland Gangwon, and Chungnam region may experience rain continuing until the early morning of the 11th. Expected rainfall amounts are 5 to 40 mm in the metropolitan area, 5 to 30 mm in Gangwon, 5 to 60 mm in southern inland Chungnam, 5 to 40 mm in Chungbuk, 5 to 40 mm in Jeonnam, 5 to 60 mm in Jeonbuk, 5 to 40 mm in western inland Gyeongnam, 5 to 20 mm in western inland Gyeongbuk, and 5 to 40 mm in Jeju Island.

Tropical nights will continue mainly in coastal and urban areas. A tropical night is defined as when the lowest temperature during the night (from 6:01 p.m. to 9 a.m. the next day) remains above 25 degrees Celsius. Last night, the lowest temperature in Seoul was 26.4°C, marking the 20th consecutive tropical night since July 21. Busan has experienced 16 consecutive tropical nights since July 25, and Jeju has had 26 consecutive tropical nights since July 15.

For the time being, sea fog is expected in the West Sea and South Sea, and some island areas may experience dense fog with visibility below 200 meters, so caution is advised to prevent maritime safety accidents.
