The "2024 Daejeon 0 Hour Festival," which will energize Daejeon's original downtown for nine days under the slogan "Daejeon That Never Sleeps, Fun That Never Ends," kicked off on the 9th.

The festival began with a calligraphy performance wishing for its success, officially signaling the start of the 0 Hour Festival. This was followed by a 30-minute celebratory flight by the Air Force Special Flight Team Black Eagles, thrilling the attendees.

The Time Travel Parade marked the true opening of the 0 Hour Festival. The parade featured Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo, 2024 Paris Olympic gold medalists Oh Sangwook and Park Sangwon, delegations from sister and friendship cities including Binh Duong Province in Vietnam and Sapporo, as well as a military band and university cheer squads.

The opening ceremony took place on the Daejeon Station stage, hosted by actor Kim Seungsoo, the festival's ambassador. The event included the "Kkumdori Flies" aerial performance, a time travel train multimedia show, and introductions of the Kkumssi family and key domestic and international guests.

Seoul Mayor Oh Sehoon congratulated the opening of the 0 Hour Festival, saying, "I hope Daejeon becomes a city that knows how to enjoy and play, and truly becomes the world's top city in brand reputation through the Daejeon 0 Hour Festival."

Daejeon will play the biggest role in Korea becoming a G2 nation," adding, "Let us come together to shine our pride and make Daejeon an even greater global city."

He continued, "The Daejeon 0 Hour Festival will become Asia's number one festival within the next five years," and expressed his expectations by saying, "This year, we anticipate 2 million visitors to the Daejeon 0 Hour Festival."

At the opening ceremony, the "Daejeon Blues," newly arranged by the Yuk Jungwan Band following Koyote last year, was unveiled for the first time.

The Daejeon 0 Hour Festival will run daily from 2 p.m. to midnight until the 17th, spanning from Daejeon Station along Jungang-ro to the section of the old Chungnam Provincial Government building and the surrounding original downtown area.
