Line 8 Extension Byeollae Line, First Operation on the 10th
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon stated on the 9th regarding the Byeollae Line, "We will reduce train congestion and minimize inconvenience to citizens through additional train deployment, increased service frequency, and the establishment of new city bus routes."
Mayor Oh attended the opening ceremony held at Byeollae Station at 2 p.m. that day and said, "We will resolve the cost-sharing issue with Gyeonggi Province as soon as possible to enable more train cars to operate."
The Byeollae Line is an extension of Seoul Subway Line 8, connecting Amsa Station on Line 8 and Byeollae Station on the Gyeongchun Line, covering a total distance of 12.9 km, and will begin operation on the 10th.
Mayor Oh explained, "The Byeollae Line will be an important route connecting Gangdong-gu, Guri City, and Namyangju City, linking the southeastern and northeastern areas of the metropolitan area," adding, "Through a business agreement with Namyangju City and Guri City, the Climate Companion Card can also be used on the Byeollae Line."
He continued, "Starting from March next year, the 'Hangang Bus' (River Bus) will be available at Jamsil Station on Line 8, which will greatly help with transportation connectivity," emphasizing, "We will strive to provide transportation convenience not only to Seoul citizens but also to residents of Gyeonggi Province."
Following the opening ceremony, Mayor Oh personally rode the train to Amsa Station Park Station to inspect the interior.
