'Illegal Donation of Support Funds Using Employee Salaries' Seoul Gangdong Nonghyup Chairman Sent to Prosecution

On the 9th, the Seoul Gangdong Police Station announced that the head of Seoul Gangdong Nonghyup and the planning director, who are accused of withholding political donations from employees' salaries without consent and delivering them, were sent to the prosecution without detention on the 5th.

According to the police, they are suspected of deducting 100,000 won from the salaries of employees at the manager level and above without any consent and donating it as political contributions to former lawmaker Jeon Ju-hye, who declared her candidacy for the Gangdong-gap district in the general election last April. It was revealed that they made 52 employees pay a total of 5.4 million won.

However, the police concluded there was no evidence regarding the suspicion of "split donations." Split donations refer to the act of circumventing the current law that prohibits political donations under a corporate name by sending donations under individual employee names.

In February, former lawmaker Jeon returned the donations she received from Seoul Gangdong Nonghyup officials after allegations of illegal political donations surfaced.
