Lee Bok-hyun “Blocking Illegal Gambling Fund Channels for Youth - Continuing Financial Education”

Hana Financial Group and Gambling Prevention and Treatment Center Join Hands to Prevent and Treat Illegal Gambling Among Youth

Hana Financial Group and the Korea Center on Gambling Problems Prevention and Healing will promote a social contribution project worth approximately 10 billion KRW over the next three years to prevent and heal illegal gambling among youth.


According to the financial sector on the 11th, the two organizations held a project launch ceremony and talk concert for the prevention and healing of youth illegal gambling on the 9th at the Hana Bank H-PULSE Small Theater in Mapo-gu, Seoul. About 100 people attended the event, including Lee Bok-hyun, Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, Ham Young-joo, Chairman of Hana Financial Group, Shin Mi-kyung, Director of the Gambling Prevention and Healing Center, as well as youth, parents, and teachers.

At the launch ceremony, professional gamer Lee Sang-hyeok (Faker) was appointed as an ambassador. In a video, he appealed, "Gambling is not a game," and urged, "Please do not fall into illegal gambling."


Director Shin said at the subsequent talk concert, "We have continuously made efforts such as strengthening on-site education to help youth form a proper economic mindset," adding, "We expect this project to be a more meaningful step in protecting the healthy future of youth from illegal gambling."


He also emphasized, "To eradicate youth illegal gambling, continuous interest from guardians such as parents and teachers at home and school is important," and stated, "The Financial Supervisory Service will continue to work with the financial sector to block illegal gambling fund routes and promote financial education to prevent illegal gambling."


Meanwhile, experts attending the event provided guidelines on preventing illegal gambling and urged active seeking of help from those around in case of illegal gambling problems. Additionally, talk concert participants watched an original play on the theme of preventing illegal gambling damage and signed a pledge to participate in gambling prevention.
