Prosecutors Request Reinvestigation of 35 Netizens
The prosecution has determined that a reinvestigation is necessary regarding those who disclosed and mocked the identity of the artist accused of drawing the so-called ‘jipgeson’ (crab claw hand) in a game promotional video.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, Women and Children Crime Investigation Division 2 (Chief Prosecutor Park Yoon-hee) requested the police on the 9th to reinvestigate 35 netizens suspected of defamation, insult, and violation of the Stalking Punishment Act.

They are accused of revealing the identity and mocking Animator A, affiliated with the animation studio Studio Ppuri, last November, claiming that he included the ‘jipgeson’?a symbol of misogyny?in a game company’s promotional material. Later, it was revealed that the person who drew the controversial scene was not A but a man in his 40s, and A filed a police complaint against the netizens in June.
A prosecution official explained the background of the reinvestigation request, stating, “Considering that the posts or transmissions by these individuals were insulting and sexually humiliating, we judged that continued investigation was necessary and requested a prompt and thorough investigation to clarify whether charges are warranted.”
Previously, the Seoul Seocho Police Station, which was investigating the case, dismissed it last month. However, the police also announced on the 7th that the dismissal decision was insufficient and that they would seek the prosecution’s cooperation to allow for a reinvestigation.
