Gachon University received the highest S grade in the educational innovation strategy category in the Ministry of Education's announcement of the '2024 University Innovation Support Project 2nd Year Performance Evaluation' on the 9th. This marks the second consecutive year of receiving the S grade following last year.
With the highest grade selection, Gachon University secured a total of approximately 12.89 billion KRW in university innovation support funds, including an incentive of about 6.84 billion KRW, giving a boost to its educational innovation projects.
The Ministry of Education's University Innovation Support Project is a program aimed at improving the quality of university education and nurturing future talents through autonomous innovation by each university, with a total of 117 universities participating.
Gachon University received favorable evaluations for expanding students' major selection options by offering a liberal major system (Type 1), broadening recruitment units in colleges (Type 2), and expanding the transfer system to provide high-quality major choices. Additionally, the university operates a P-semester system in the second semester of the third year, where 12 weeks are dedicated to general curriculum classes and the remaining 4 weeks to intensive projects, enhancing practical fieldwork performance and problem-solving skills.
Starting from this year's admissions, Gachon University will expand the number of students selected under the liberal major system and broaden recruitment units in three colleges, selecting a total of 881 students through a major autonomous selection system.
Furthermore, to cultivate talents in specialized university fields, the university focuses on nurturing experts in semiconductors, secondary batteries, and bio sectors through the BBC (Bio, Battery, Chips) specialization project. It has also gained attention for systematically supporting and managing students' major and career planning through the operation of the Infinite Major Care TFT, establishment of a full-cycle big data-based career education system, and operation of the Major and Career Design Care Center.
President Gil-Yeoh Lee of Gachon University stated, "Gachon University has established a full-cycle student support system that allows students to choose their majors and design their careers according to their interests and aptitudes through academic system reforms and flexible operations." He added, "We will continue to make efforts to help students grow into core talents who will lead the future through meticulous support."
