17 Billion Won Scale... Biennial Application System Introduced Starting This Year
Ulsan Ulju-gun announced on the 9th that it will implement the '2024 Ulju-gun University Student Scholarship Program' using nuclear power plant support funds.
Marking its ninth year, the Ulju-gun University Student Scholarship Program was established to reduce the financial burden of tuition and foster local talent by providing scholarships as living expenses to local university students using nuclear power plant support funds.
Eligible applicants are university students from Ulju-gun whose parents or themselves have resided in Ulju-gun for at least one year as of the announcement date (July 18, 2024).
Based on the first semester grades of 2024, general scholarship applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and welfare scholarship applicants (recipients of basic living security, lower-income families, legally recognized single-parent families, or students with severe disabilities) must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Recipients will be selected in order of academic performance.
Starting this year, a biennial application system has been introduced to expand the scope of scholarship recipients, so those who received scholarships in 2023 are not eligible to apply. However, welfare scholarship applicants may apply every year.
Ulju-gun will select a total of 2,299 recipients, including 2,189 general scholarship students and 110 welfare scholarship students from all towns and villages. General scholarship recipients will receive 700,000 KRW each, and welfare scholarship recipients will receive 1,500,000 KRW each, with a total scholarship fund of 1.7 billion KRW.
Those wishing to apply can do so by verifying their identity and submitting an application on the scholarship application page of the Ulju-gun Office website from the 12th to the 23rd.
Ulju-gun will select the first round of successful applicants through online applications, conduct a second round of document screening next month, and finalize the list of recipients on October 11. Detailed information can be found on the Ulju-gun Office website.
An Ulju-gun official stated, "With the introduction of the biennial application system and an increase of 340 million KRW in the scholarship budget compared to last year, we expect that more students will benefit this year."
