The Chungnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 9th that it had detected 8,978 cases of traffic law violations during a 100-day intensive crackdown.
In response to an increase in fatalities caused by traffic accidents, the police conducted a 100-day intensive crackdown on drunk driving and two-wheeled vehicles starting in May.
As a result of the crackdown, a total of 8,978 cases were detected, including 2,455 cases of drunk driving and 6,523 cases involving two-wheeled vehicles. This figure represents a 95% increase compared to the same period last year.
Among the drunk driving cases, there were 1,434 license revocations, 961 license suspensions, and 60 refusals to take a breathalyzer test. For two-wheeled vehicles, there were 2,925 cases involving motorcycles and 3,598 cases involving PM (Personal Mobility devices).
A representative from the Chungnam Provincial Police Agency stated, "We will do our utmost to protect the lives of residents from disorderly acts involving drunk driving and two-wheeled vehicles," and urged, "Please actively participate in eradicating drunk driving and complying with traffic laws."
