Designer "Creating Clothes Using Vintage Spoons"
Australian-born Hollywood actress Cate Blanchett (55) has attracted attention by attending an official event wearing a 'spoon outfit.'
According to CNN and other foreign media on the 8th (local time), Blanchett attended the promotional event for the movie 'Borderland' held in Los Angeles (LA) on the 6th, wearing a top made of spoons and black pants. This halter-neck style outfit, with 102 spoons densely arranged mainly on the front upper body, is a product of the Swedish brand Hodakova. Hodakova is known as a brand that pursues sustainability and upcycling.
Ellen Hodakova Larsson, who designed this outfit, reportedly made it by collecting vintage spoons from a rural village in Sweden.
Hodakova stated, "We are striving to create the world's first fully sustainable fashion house and to change the fashion industry's perspective on the possibilities of circularity." She added, "We craft stories by transforming old materials into luxurious products and conceptually upcycling materials found in everyday life into unique pieces in the world."
Upcycling refers to going beyond recycling discarded products by adding value such as aesthetic design to create new products. CNN explained that this interest in sustainability aligns with the beliefs Blanchett has shown over time.
Blanchett is recognized as a figure leading the change of the red carpet into an eco-friendly 'Green Carpet Challenge' by rewearing or refurbishing dresses she wore 4 to 5 years ago at award ceremonies. Last year, she wore two different custom suits by Alexander McQueen at two separate movie premieres. In an interview with the American entertainment media Hollywood Reporter, she stated, "We must cherish beautiful clothes for today's environment."
Meanwhile, Blanchett, born in 1969, has appeared in various beloved works such as the movies 'Elizabeth,' 'The Lord of the Rings series,' 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,' and 'Thor: Ragnarok.'
