Kim Gwaoe, Surpasses 2 Million Members

Private tutoring brokerage platform KimGwaoe (CEO Jaeyong Kim) recently surpassed 2 million members.

A KimGwaoe representative stated, “Since its launch in 2015, KimGwaoe has steadily increased its tutoring transaction volume based on the trust it has built, and in 2023, the annual transaction amount exceeded 80 billion KRW.”

In June 2023, KimGwaoe announced the ‘Safe Tutoring Roadmap’ and has been establishing safety measures for a secure tutoring environment. The platform also strengthened processes for identity and academic background verification to develop into a platform where members can use the service with confidence.

According to the ‘Safe Tutoring Roadmap,’ KimGwaoe quickly implemented full member identity verification, selective disclosure of teachers’ personal information, an automatic monitoring system for suspicious accounts, a feature to find safe tutoring locations, a free issuance service for safe phone numbers, and prominently placed a safe tutoring guide service within the platform.

In the second half of 2023, to reinforce a lawful tutoring environment, KimGwaoe introduced a process to verify the validity of academic certification documents in cooperation with various universities, established standard regulations regarding tutoring lessons, and adopted a standard tutoring contract. In the first half of 2024, the service underwent a full renewal to enhance security, and a constitutional appeal regarding restrictions on tutoring locations was underway to allow tutoring classes in public spaces.

Furthermore, in July 2024, KimGwaoe expanded and reorganized the existing ‘Safe Tutoring Roadmap’ into the ‘Tutoring Environment Innovation Roadmap’ and continues its efforts to build a safe tutoring environment.

As part of the expanded ‘Tutoring Environment Innovation Roadmap,’ in the second half of this year, KimGwaoe plans to implement a tuition fee protection service to fundamentally prevent refund disputes, establish a simple tutoring contract system, and build an emergency reporting function to prepare for urgent situations.

In 2025, even more innovative services will be provided. These include a service that allows easy reservation of safe tutoring spaces and an automatic matching service that facilitates simple matching without fully exposing profiles. Additionally, communication tools between students, parents, and teachers will be supported to efficiently improve interactions among them.

A KimGwaoe representative said, “The expansion and reorganization of this roadmap is part of our efforts to provide a safe and quality tutoring environment for all members,” adding, “We will continue to prioritize user experience and steadily develop going forward.”

KimGwaoe’s plans are expected to contribute to increasing member satisfaction alongside the platform’s continuous growth.
