Dining Prices Vary Greatly by Region
Jjajangmyeon, Naengmyeon, and Samgyeopsal Most Expensive in Seoul
Samgyeopsal in Seoul 20,000 KRW per Serving, 14,000 KRW in Chungbuk
As dining-out prices soar, significant differences in food costs by region have been observed. Naengmyeon, Jjajangmyeon, and Samgyeopsal were most expensive in Seoul, while Samgyetang was priciest in Jeonbuk. On the other hand, Chungbuk generally had lower prices for major dining-out expenses such as Samgyeopsal and Samgyetang.
According to the "Dining-out Price Information" released by the Korea Consumer Agency on the 7th, as of June, the price of one serving of naengmyeon in Seoul was 11,923 KRW, the highest among the 16 cities and provinces surveyed.
The price of one serving of Jjajangmyeon (7,308 KRW) and Samgyeopsal (20,082 KRW) was also highest in Seoul. Seoul was the only place where the price of one serving (200g) of Samgyeopsal exceeded 20,000 KRW. In contrast, Chungbuk had the lowest price for one serving of Samgyeopsal at 14,340 KRW, showing a difference of 5,742 KRW compared to Seoul.
The price of the summer health food 'Samgyetang' also stands out. Samgyetang was most expensive in Jeonbuk at 17,000 KRW per serving. It was followed by ▲Seoul at 16,885 KRW ▲Gyeonggi at 16,724 KRW ▲Gwangju at 16,400 KRW. Chungbuk was the cheapest at 14,857 KRW.
The price of one serving of gimbap was highest in Gyeonggi at 3,479 KRW. It was followed by ▲Seoul 3,462 KRW ▲Gyeongnam 3,446 KRW ▲Ulsan 3,400 KRW ▲Gwangju 3,340 KRW.
Meanwhile, the dining-out price inflation rate in June was 3%, exceeding the consumer price inflation rate of 2.4%.
