After Drinking Half the Coffee, a Regular Customer Demanded a Refund... When Refused, They Threw It and Left Immediately

JTBC 'Sageonbanjang' Regular Customer's Troubles Revealed
"Suddenly Complained While Drinking a 1500 Won Americano"

A video has been released showing a problematic customer who, after being refused a refund for coffee half-drunk, threw the drink. On the 7th, JTBC's 'Sageon Banjang' introduced the story experienced by informant A, who runs a cafe in Seoul, on the 6th. A said, "He is a regular customer who always pays 1,500 won in cash for an iced Americano, and on that day, he ordered the same drink in the same way," adding, "But 20 minutes after receiving the coffee, he suddenly started complaining."

The customer complained to A after drinking about half of the coffee, saying, "What is floating on top of the coffee? Please check." When A explained that it was part of the coffee foam, the customer changed his words, saying, "The coffee is bitter, so make it weaker." A said, "Seeing the amount of coffee left, I told the customer, 'Since you drank a lot, if it's too bitter, I can add water or ice. But I can't remake it.' Then he demanded a refund, saying, 'How am I supposed to drink this?'" A told JTBC.

When A refused the unreasonable demand, saying, "Refunds are not possible. I hope you don't come to our store anymore," the customer threw the coffee and straw at A, pushed the store's POS machine with his fist, and left. As a result, the floor and the counter of the store were soaked. A said, "The customer had many problematic behaviors before. He sometimes paid less by throwing money or didn't pay at all," and added, "I filed a complaint against the customer for business obstruction and other charges." He also added, "Recently, I saw that the customer went to a nearby cafe of another brand. I am worried that other business owners might suffer the same damage."

Netizens who heard the story criticized the customer, saying, "Why act like that over a 1,500 won coffee?", "No matter how unfair, it should be resolved by talking," and "I hope the complaint teaches him a lesson."

Stories of problematic customers in cafes continue without end. In June, a story was revealed about a problematic customer who threw a drink at a cafe owner, claiming the ordered drink was not brought to the table. According to informant B, two middle-aged men ordered two smoothies, saying they would eat in the cafe. After finishing making the drinks, B called out twice, "Your order is ready," but the men, who were in conversation, apparently did not hear.

Shortly after, the men appeared and requested the drinks to be packed. Then, when one customer asked rudely, "When will the drinks be ready?" B responded, "I called twice, but it seems you didn't hear." The customer then pointed his finger and threw the drink at B, saying, "You should have come yourself; you're being rude." When B was startled and tried to call 112 immediately, the men fled.
