A tragic accident occurred in India where a 4-year-old girl died after being crushed by a large dog that fell from the 5th floor of a building. On the 7th (local time), several foreign media including NDTV reported on the accident that happened the previous afternoon in Mumbra, a small suburban town about 30 km from Mumbai, India. Surveillance camera footage released shows a large dog, a Golden Retriever, suddenly falling from a building five stories high and directly hitting a 4-year-old girl named A, who was passing through an alley next to the building.

Girl A lost consciousness immediately from the strong impact. Her mother picked up her fallen daughter, held her in her arms, and sought help from those nearby. Meanwhile, the Golden Retriever regained consciousness and stood up on its own, but seemed disoriented and moved slowly due to the shock. With the help of passersby, Girl A was quickly transported to a hospital. However, she eventually died while receiving treatment for severe injuries. It was confirmed that Girl A and her mother had gone out for a walk nearby when the accident occurred. Locally, the story that Girl A was their only child, born after eight years of difficulty, has added to the sorrow.

The Golden Retriever that fell from the building was also rescued and taken to an animal hospital. However, the circumstances of the dog's fall have not been revealed. It is still unclear whether someone deliberately threw the dog or if it fell while moving on its own. The bereaved family claimed, "The dog owner occupies the entire terrace of the building and raises several breeds of dogs without permission." Local police are investigating the identity of the dog owner and the details of the incident. They also plan to perform an autopsy on Girl A to determine the exact cause of death and will investigate whether there was any intentional act or animal abuse by the dog owner.

Previously, in 2018, a woman in her 40s living in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China, lost consciousness after colliding with a large dog that fell from the second floor of a factory while she was passing by a main road. The dog stood up and walked on its own after some time following the collision, but the woman could not move. She was later taken to a hospital where she was diagnosed with a concussion and severe neck injuries. In 2022, a 55-year-old man living in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, died after colliding head-on with a dog that fell above his head near a flower bed on the first floor. In the same year, in Jiangxi Province, China, an accident also occurred where a live dog fell from a high-rise apartment, severely injuring an elderly person in their 80s who was sitting at the entrance of the apartment’s flower bed.
