Distributed to Dong Community Centers and Tourist Information Centers in Jongno-gu
Jongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) has published the "Jongno Modern Road Guidebook," introducing 10 tourist courses centered on the modern and contemporary history of Jongno.
Based on the audio guide program "Jongno Modern Road Soundwalk," produced last February, the guidebook adds vivid on-site photos as well as information such as tourist information centers and maps of major tourist attractions.
Focusing on incorporating visual elements, the guidebook comprehensively delivers nearby sights, food, and entertainment for each course to enhance convenience for tourists.
Previously, Jongno-gu investigated the changes from the early opening period in 1876 to the present and established 10 Modern Road courses. They are composed of "1.21 Road," "Road of Independence and Betrayal," "Foreigner's Ginkgo Road," "Modernist, Literary Road," "Road Toward Enlightenment," "March 1st Movement Road," "Road of Revolution," "Road of Learning," "Road of Life," and "Road of History," with a total length of 30.2 km. All courses are connected in a single route, and each course takes between 2 to 2.5 hours to complete.
The guidebook will be distributed to community centers and tourist information centers until the 12th of this month and will also be posted as an e-book on the district office website for public use.
Meanwhile, the audio guide program "Jongno Modern Road Soundwalk," featuring vivid performances and explanations by 10 local celebrities connected to Jongno, can be accessed by downloading the Korea Tourism Organization's "Odi" or "JongnoPick" applications. Narrations are provided in Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese.
