Military: "One North Korean Resident Defects Crossing West Sea NLL"

A North Korean resident is reported to have defected to the South by crossing the South-North neutral zone in the Han River estuary on the 8th.

According to multiple military sources, one North Korean resident crossed the South-North neutral zone on that day and arrived at Gyodongdo Island, then expressed their intention to defect to our side.

Shin Won-sik, Minister of National Defense, responded to questions about the North Korean defector during a full meeting of the National Defense Committee at the National Assembly on the same day, saying, "The relevant agencies are investigating."

Although Seol is a time that naturally brings thoughts of one's hometown, there are those who long for it but cannot visit. They are the displaced persons. Across from Ganghwa Gyodong Island lies North Korea's Hwanghae Province, Yeonbaek.
