"Let's Have a Healthy Adolescence with Our Nodam Knowledge"
Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province (Governor Lee Namcheol) is drawing attention with its smoking and drinking prevention program targeting children and adolescents.
On the 5th, Goryeong County launched the first session of the smoking and drinking prevention and stress education program for children and adolescents, titled "Let's Spend a Healthy Adolescence with Our Nodom Knowledge," at the Daegaya Community Child Center. The program consists of a total of six sessions (three at the Daegaya Community Child Center and three at the Hana Community Child Center).
"Udambyeonsa" is a health management education program provided by the Health Promotion Team at the public health center and the Mental Health Welfare Center. It supports healthy growth and development for students from vulnerable groups who use local community child centers.
This program aims to improve awareness by helping participants form healthy peer relationships and manage their own health properly through activities such as horticulture (planting), cooking (making watermelon punch), and stress management (building a snack house they want to live in).
The program was planned based on last year's Youth Health Behavior Survey, which found that the youth smoking rate in North Gyeongsang Province is higher than the national average and that about one-third of the adolescent population experiences stress on a regular basis.
Kim Gonsu, Director of the Public Health Center, said, "I hope this program will help support healthy growth and development by fostering proper eating habits and preventing smoking, as well as managing physical health and stress."
Goryeong County is operating the smoking and drinking prevention education program "Udamgeonsa" in collaboration with local children's centers.
