Nexon Reports 2Q Revenue of 1.0762 Trillion KRW, Up 30%... Thanks to Dungeon & Fighter Mobile's Success in China (Update)

Nexon recorded its highest-ever sales and operating profit for the second quarter, driven by the success of 'Dungeon & Fighter Mobile' in China.

On the 8th, Nexon announced that its consolidated sales for the second quarter of this year reached 1.0762 trillion KRW, with an operating profit of 397.4 billion KRW. These figures represent a 30% and 64% increase respectively compared to the same period last year, marking the highest sales and operating profit for a second quarter in the company's history.

The company explained, "‘Dungeon & Fighter Mobile,’ launched in China last May, succeeded in the market thanks to its rich content and thorough localization tailored to Chinese users," adding, "Stable operations focused on improving the in-game economy helped us achieve the quarterly forecast."

The ‘MapleStory’ franchise games also contributed to growth in the second quarter. MapleStory set new sales records in other regions including North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, showing a clear growth trend, while the mobile game ‘MapleStory M’ saw global sales increase by 43% compared to the same period last year.

The ‘FC’ franchise, including 'FC Online' and 'FC Mobile,' also maintained steady growth. Both games exceeded their second-quarter forecasts, resulting in a 57% year-over-year increase in total franchise sales for Nexon's three major IPs: Dungeon & Fighter, MapleStory, and FC.

Additionally, ‘Blue Archive,’ which is very popular in Japan and Southeast Asia, ‘HIT: The World (Hit 2),’ officially released in Japan last April, and ‘The Finals’ in North America and Europe all contributed, pushing Nexon's overseas sales ratio beyond 60% in the second quarter.

‘First Descendant,’ released last month, quickly surpassed 260,000 peak concurrent users, ranking 5th among the most-played games and 1st in global sales, signaling a positive outlook for Nexon's third-quarter performance. Furthermore, Nexon is preparing new titles targeting the global market, including the hardcore action RPG ‘First Berserker: Kazan’ and the escape shooting game ‘Ark Raiders.’

Lee Jung-heon, CEO of Nexon Japan, said, "It is very encouraging that both Dungeon & Fighter Mobile, launched in China, and First Descendant, which challenged the global market with a new IP, have achieved good results," adding, "We will continue to pursue growth strategies through expanding existing IPs as well as discovering new IPs."
