Saemaeul Library Gwangjin-gu Branch Hosts 'Summer Vacation Library'
Free Distribution of 200 New Books at Gunja-dong Community Center on the 20th at 10 AM
Over 300 Quality Books Available, Up to 2 Books per Person for Rental
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) announced that it will operate the '2024 Summer Vacation Reading Room' at the Gunja-dong Community Center on the 20th to coincide with the summer vacation season.
The Summer Vacation Reading Room, hosted by the Saemaeul Reading Room Gwangjin-gu Branch (President Kim Jeong-i), has been implemented since 2004 to create a reading-friendly atmosphere.
The reading room, which opens at 10 a.m. on the 20th, welcomes residents with about 500 books. Various genres such as children’s, youth, literature, and general knowledge books are prepared. Two hundred new books are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with one book per person given free of charge. The remaining 300 quality books are neatly displayed for easy viewing, and residents can borrow up to two books per person.
Kim Jeong-i, President of the Saemaeul Reading Room Gwangjin-gu Branch, said, “We operate the summer vacation reading room to cultivate the habit of reading and create a proper reading culture, so we hope for much interest and participation.”
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, expressed his gratitude to President Kim Jeong-i and the members of the Saemaeul Reading Room for their efforts to promote reading culture, saying, “While enjoying cool water activities during the summer vacation is good, it is also beneficial to take time to soothe the mind through reading. We will actively lead the creation of a reading atmosphere and the habitual practice of reading.”
Meanwhile, the Saemaeul Reading Room Gwangjin-gu Branch consists of a total of 234 members and carries out various activities to expand the base of reading culture, such as a thrift book exchange market, outdoor writing contests, and reading competitions.
