"Glocal University Main Designation Gains Momentum ... Kyungnam University Achieves Top Rating in University Innovation Support Project Performance Evaluation"

Kyungnam University has been honored with the highest grade, 'SA Grade (S in Educational Innovation Performance, A in Internal Performance Management),' in the performance evaluation of the University Innovation Support Project Type I (General Financial Support Project) supported by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

The University Innovation Support Project is a flagship financial support program by the Ministry of Education, aimed at improving the quality of university education and fostering future talent through autonomous innovation and structural improvement at each university. In the performance evaluation, the Ministry of Education assessed areas such as ▲educational innovation performance, ▲core educational outcomes, and ▲management and feedback of autonomous performance indicators.

In the evaluation, Kyungnam University was highly praised for faithfully implementing the restructuring of its academic system to meet future-oriented demands, introducing the KU-developed new module curriculum, and advancing its educational innovation systems. The university also established a governance system connecting local government, industry, academia, and research institutes to develop and foster specialized academic fields and business models.

As a result, Kyungnam University received the highest S grade in educational innovation performance and an A grade in internal performance management, thereby earning additional incentives on top of the existing project funds.

In particular, as Kyungnam University is actively promoting the establishment of the 'Changwon Local-Industry-Academia-Research Integrated University' as a core initiative of the Ministry of Education's Glocal University Project, this top grade achievement is expected to serve as a significant driving force for both the upcoming official designation of the Glocal University Project and future university innovation.

Additionally, the university received excellent evaluations for its restructuring of academic departments and academic systems to support specialized education, including the establishment and operation of interdisciplinary majors and tracks, the implementation of mandatory double majors, and the operation of various flexible semester systems.
