On the 8th, Park Namseo, Mayor of Yeongju, Kim Byeonggi, Chairman of the Yeongju City Council, and Kwon Youngchang, Head of the Yeongju Branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association, visited Yeongyang County Office and delivered a donation of 12.5 million KRW.
Yeongju City, the Yeongju City Council, and the Yeongju Branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association each voluntarily raised 6 million KRW, 1.5 million KRW, and 5 million KRW, respectively. The donation delivered on this day will be used to support vulnerable groups in the Yeongyang area who suffered significant damage from flooding, through the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea.
Meanwhile, when Yeongju City suffered heavy damage from torrential rains last year, Yeongyang County donated 3 million KRW and the Yeongyang Branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association contributed 5 million KRW to help neighbors in need.
Park Namseo, Mayor of Yeongju, said, "Last year, when our city was struggling, the support and consolation from Yeongyang County and the Yeongyang Branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association were of great help. I hope that the residents of Yeongyang, who have recently been affected by heavy rainfall, will quickly return to their daily lives."
Kim Byeonggi, Chairman of the Yeongju City Council, said, "I hope this donation will be of some help to the residents of Yeongyang who are facing difficulties. I also hope that Yeongju City and Yeongyang County will continue to support each other and grow together in times of hardship."
Kwon Youngchang, Head of the Yeongju Branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association, said, "I am grateful to be able to reciprocate the warm support shown by Yeongyang County last year. I want to offer comfort and encouragement so that the flood victims do not lose hope."
