Secured 50 Million Won in Reserve, Implementation Starts This Month
Seoul Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced on the 8th that starting this month, lunch support for elderly people using senior centers will be expanded from three days a week to five days a week.
There are 165 senior centers operating in Eunpyeong-gu. The district provides various supports to ensure stable lunch meals for elderly users of the senior centers, including monthly operational subsidies, government grain support, and dispatching lunch helpers.
Eunpyeong-gu has secured approximately 50 million KRW in district funds necessary for expanding lunch services to five days a week and plans to provide additional side dish expenses and extra government grain support required for the expansion.
Meanwhile, on the 1st, the district conducted a ‘Senior Center Health and Hygiene Management Education’ session for senior center chairpersons, covering topics such as food poisoning prevention and nutrition management to protect the health of the elderly following the increase in meal frequency.
Kim Sang-hyuk, President of the Korea Senior Citizens Association Eunpyeong-gu Branch, said, “As the number of lunch meals increases, I hope all senior center users will participate in meal preparation so that many people can eat together.”
District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung stated, “The expansion of lunch support aims to provide sufficient meals and support a healthy old age for elderly users of senior centers in the region. We hope this support will be of practical help to the elderly.”
