With 50 participants per district including Silppuri Welfare Center and Hyodo Bapsang meal service agency officials and residents
From identifying welfare blind spots and preventing solitary deaths among single-person households to promoting district-specific welfare projects
Mapo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Gang-su) announced plans to operate the ‘Silppuri Welfare Accompaniment Group’ for each neighborhood, a Mapo-style neighborhood welfare resident meeting aimed at realizing ‘Silppuri Welfare,’ a detailed welfare delivery system at the dong (neighborhood) level.
‘Silppuri Welfare’ is Mapo-gu’s welfare vision that aims for meticulous welfare permeating the lives of all residents, from children to adults, and from socially vulnerable groups to general residents.
This consists mainly of the Mapo-style care model ‘Silppuri Welfare Center,’ the Mapo-style neighborhood community center ‘Silppuri Welfare Accompaniment Center,’ and the Mapo-style resident participation fund ‘Silppuri Welfare Fund.’
The ‘Silppuri Welfare Accompaniment Group’ is a resident participation model designed to build a detailed and efficient welfare delivery system through Silppuri Welfare and to prevent welfare blind spots.
Each group will be composed of about 50 members, including the Silppuri Welfare Center director, heads of welfare institutions and senior meal service institutions, and local residents.
Recruitment for the Accompaniment Group will take place from this month through September, and interested residents can apply by visiting their local resident center.
The Accompaniment Group will share information on the district’s Silppuri Welfare projects, identify residents in welfare blind spots, and promote projects to prevent solitary deaths among the increasing number of single-person households.
In addition, Silppuri Welfare specialized projects reflecting the resources and regional characteristics of each neighborhood will also be promoted.
The district expects that once the Silppuri Welfare Accompaniment Groups are operating in each neighborhood, close cooperation with the Silppuri Welfare Center, Silppuri Welfare Accompaniment Center, and local welfare institutions will help supplement the limitations of the existing welfare system.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “Like Silppuri, which is thinner and spreads wider than ordinary roots, we plan to enhance the sense of welfare through ‘Silppuri Welfare,’ which permeates the lives of all residents with meticulous welfare. In this process, residents’ participation is most important, so we ask for active participation and interest in forming the Silppuri Welfare Accompaniment Group.”
