Indong-dong in Gumi, Gyeongbuk, has introduced the nation's first AI smart unmanned refrigerator, presenting a new direction for the culture of sharing food.

This refrigerator, installed in Indong Market, supports the local community's food sharing in a safer and more efficient way through features that differentiate it from existing products.

Utilizing an AI system, this refrigerator is equipped with various functions such as ▲management of incoming and outgoing items ▲setting expiration dates for fresh foods ▲enhanced security through an integrated camera ▲limiting the quantity of food taken at once ▲continuous post-management through a self-developed program.

In particular, these features effectively solve issues such as managing food expiration dates and preventing the mass withdrawal of food by certain individuals, thereby further developing the local culture of food sharing.

Since its launch on July 4, over 100 neighbors have used the refrigerator, and it has received great support through food donations from nearby stores and welfare centers.

Indong-dong plans to not only share food through the AI refrigerator but also to develop ways to utilize it in connection with various welfare services.

The Indong-dong Community Security Council (Chairperson Kim Bongsun) stated, "The council members, nearby stores, and welfare centers are collectively placing side dishes and food ingredients in the refrigerator, and so many neighbors use it that it is emptied within a day. We will continue to manage it so that even more people can use it safely."
