Asan Sinjeong Lake Park Selected as One of the 50 Beautiful Urban Forests

The Only One in Chungnam... An Urban Oasis for Nature Retreat and Cultural Arts Enjoyment

Sinjeong Lake Park, located in Asan City, was the only site in Chungnam to be selected for the Korea Forest Service's "Top 50 Beautiful Urban Forests."

Sinjeongho Lake Park, located in Asan, Chungnam, was the only site in Chungnam selected for the "Top 50 Beautiful Urban Forests" by the Korea Forest Service.

This contest was organized by the Korea Forest Service to promote the value and role of urban forests. Since April, 916 urban forests were recommended and evaluated based on preference, accessibility, ecological health, usage, and scenic value, with 50 sites being finally selected.

Sinjeongho Lake Park was designated as the "Sinjeongho National Tourist Site" in the 1980s, and a full-scale park development project began in 1993. The park is adjacent to major transportation networks such as roads and railways, providing excellent accessibility to the Seoul metropolitan area and Sejong City. It is also located about 2 kilometers from Asan's old downtown, making it a popular health course for local residents.

In particular, the park connects with the Namsan hiking trail, allowing visitors to enjoy both hiking and the park itself. There are also more than 50 commercial facilities around the lake, offering waterfront park experiences along with various dining options.

The city plans to further expand the urban forest so that Sinjeongho Lake Park can establish itself as the nation's top healing hotspot.

By October, the Sinjeongho Local Garden will be completed, adding the function of a waterfront complex cultural platform. By 2025, the Sinjeongho Art Valley Kids Garden will be created to provide a space where children can enjoy both play and learning in nature.

Mayor Park Kyunggui said, "Being selected for the 'Top 50 Beautiful Urban Forests' is a result created together with our citizens," and added, "We will manage Sinjeongho Lake Park more systematically with the goal of registering it as Chungnam's first local garden, and do our best to have it designated as the '2030 Sinjeongho Art Valley National Garden' in the future."
