Establishing a System to Collect Hand Towels for Raw Material Reuse

Both parties plan to launch the hand towel resource circulation project, the BI:CYCLE campaign. Centered around the Korean Film Council headquarters, they will establish a resource circulation system that collects used hand towels and reuses them as raw materials, cooperating to practice ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management.
The collected and sorted hand towels will be transported to Yuhan-Kimberly’s Gimcheon factory and reused as raw materials for hand towels. The Korean Film Council will receive finished products processed from fabric containing recycled hand towel raw materials from the Korea Association of Persons with Disabilities. Hand towels used solely for wiping moisture can be reused as product raw materials, helping reduce incineration volume and replacing imported recycled pulp, thereby contributing to carbon emission reduction.
Furthermore, both parties plan to collaborate to revitalize the circular economy across the industry, including cultural and artistic institutions located in Busan. Once the hand towel resource circulation project is fully launched in the region, it is expected to contribute not only to carbon emission reduction through large-scale resource recycling but also to job creation for persons with disabilities and regional economic revitalization.
A BI:CYCLE representative stated, “Based on broad cooperation among stakeholders, we will actively continue united efforts across the industry to create more meaningful effects for protecting the global environment.”
