Daejeon Daedeok-gu is drawing attention by utilizing snow removal equipment to respond to the ongoing heat wave.

On the 7th, Daedeok-gu announced that it is mobilizing snow removal equipment such as automatic brine spraying devices and smart snow removal machines to minimize inconvenience to residents caused by the heat wave.

The district has installed rainwater storage tanks separately on automatic brine spraying devices set up in various locations, including Jangdong-ro, Daecheonghosu-ro, Shintanjin-ro 756beon-an-gil, and Gilchi Culture Park. The rainwater collected during the monsoon season is sprayed onto the roads to help alleviate the urban heat island effect.

In addition, high-pressure water sprayers have been mounted on smart snow removal machines to regularly clean sidewalks. This helps lower the temperature of the sidewalks and removes debris, allowing rainwater to flow into the groundwater system without overflowing.

Choi Choongyu, head of Daedeok-gu Office, said, "As a result of our efforts to use snow removal equipment more effectively, we found we could utilize it to respond to the summer heat wave. We will continue to be creative to save the budget and improve convenience for residents."
