On the 6th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it has issued a Level 4 travel alert, "Travel Ban," for the border areas between northern Israel and southern Lebanon, and a temporary Special Travel Advisory for Iran. These measures will take effect from midnight on the 7th.
Except for the Israel-Lebanon border area and the Gaza Strip (both Level 4), Israel and Lebanon will maintain the existing Level 3 travel alert (Departure Recommendation).
In the case of Iran, the Level 3 travel alert for certain border areas previously issued remains in effect, while the rest of the regions, which were under Level 2 (Travel Caution), have now been upgraded to a Special Travel Advisory.
The areas currently under Level 3 include the Turkey-Iraq border region, Sistan-Baluchestan Province, and three provinces along the Persian Gulf coast (Khuzestan, Bushehr, Hormozgan).
The government stated, "We urge citizens who had planned to travel to the Israel-Lebanon border area, now designated as a travel ban zone, to cancel their plans, and those currently staying in the area to evacuate immediately."
It added, "We strongly recommend that our citizens residing in Lebanon and Israel depart as soon as possible using available flights."
Visiting or staying in areas under the Level 4 travel alert (Travel Ban) may result in penalties under the Passport Act and other related regulations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also requested, "Citizens planning to visit Iran, where the Special Travel Advisory has been issued, should cancel or postpone their trips, and those currently in the area should leave for safe regions unless there is an urgent reason."
The Ministry further stated, "We will continue to closely monitor the situation in the Middle East and take various measures to ensure the safety of our citizens."
Currently, it is known that about 550 Korean nationals are staying in Israel, about 120 in Lebanon, and about 110 in Iran.
Recently, tensions in the Middle East have escalated as Ismail Haniyeh, the top leader of the Palestinian armed faction Hamas, and Fuad Shukr, the top military commander of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, were successively killed, and Iran and Hezbollah have declared retaliation against Israel.
