Mother 'Panic' Holding Baby with Breathing Difficulty in Middle of Road... Patrol Car's Dramatic Rescue

Woman Holding Baby Found Distressed During Patrol
Escorted Guardian and Baby Directly to Emergency Room

A police officer on patrol discovered a driver in a panic holding a baby experiencing breathing difficulties in the middle of the road and transported them to the hospital, averting a crisis. The story was shared later.

On the official YouTube channel of the National Police Agency, a video titled "‘Please save our baby’ A mother's desperate plea" was posted on the 2nd. The video showed a white passenger car suddenly stopping with its hazard lights on in front of an elementary school in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 15th of last month.

The female driver got out of the car and hurriedly ran to the back seat, opened the door, and picked up a young child. The child was limp in her arms, and just as she was at a loss, a patrol car passed by. The police officer noticed the woman waving for help, stopped the patrol car, and upon checking, found that the 300-day-old infant was experiencing breathing difficulties. The baby was suffering from acute allergic reaction causing breathing problems and vomiting, making it difficult for the mother to take the child to the hospital alone.

Judging that there was no time to wait for an ambulance, the police immediately took the woman and the baby in the patrol car and rushed them to the hospital. Another officer who rode along moved the woman’s vehicle, which was stopped in the middle of the road, to a parking lot. This was a measure considering the baby's condition and the situation on the road in front of the elementary school where the vehicle was stopped. The video also showed citizens making way for the police car transporting the patient during this process.

A few days later, the woman expressed her gratitude on the Seodaemun Police Station website, saying, "I am very thankful for the great help given to a novice mother struggling in an unfamiliar neighborhood." She recounted, "I was so flustered and in tears, not knowing what to do, when the patrol car from Chungjeongno Police Substation passed by, and I urgently asked for help, which they readily provided." She added, "The officers accompanied me directly to a nearby pediatric clinic, waited through the reception, and when the wait became long, they took us to a large hospital emergency room."

She also said, "I was truly touched by their consideration as they moved my car to the hospital and even took photos of its location and sent them to me." She apologized, saying, "I was so overwhelmed that day that I couldn’t properly thank them. I’m sorry," and added, "I am only now able to express my gratitude in writing."

Netizens who heard the news left comments such as "This makes me tear up. Thank you," and "I support the police officers who give strength to those seeking help."
