"West Sea Line double-track electrified railway opening, no issues."
On the 5th, Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced that Mayor Jeong Jang-seon, City Council Chairman Kang Jeong-gu, and about 40 others attended a test ride of the West Sea Line double-track electrified railway, scheduled to open in October, to check the train operation status.

During the test ride held at Anjung Station, they inspected the station and operated a test train round-trip over a 37.7 km section from Anjung Station through Hyangnam Station and Hwaseong City Hall Station to Seohwaseong Station. The test run used the KTX-Eum, running at a maximum speed of 260 km/h.
The West Sea Line double-track electrified railway is a passenger and freight line connecting a 90.01 km section from Hongseong, Chungnam to Songsan, Hwaseong, with a total project cost of 4.0842 trillion KRW, scheduled to open in October.
This line connects southward to the Janghang Line, directly linking to the Jeolla and Honam Lines at Iksan. To the north, it connects to the Gyeongui Line via the Sinansan Line and the Wonsi~Sosa~Daegok route, serving as a north-south main railway axis along the west coast. Once the railway opens, travel from Hongseong to Songsan will take about 30 minutes, and from Anjung to Songsan about 15 minutes.
In particular, the Poseung~Pyeongtaek railway, connecting 22.8 km between Pyeongtaek and Anjung, is also scheduled to open simultaneously in connection with the West Sea Line double-track electrified railway, significantly reducing travel time between eastern and western Pyeongtaek.
Mayor Jeong said, "The opening of the West Sea Line double-track electrified railway is expected to greatly resolve development and transportation imbalances in the western region of Pyeongtaek," adding, "We will do our best to ensure no inconvenience to users by thoroughly preparing for the opening, including deploying bus routes at Anjung Station and promoting the opening."
