Possessing Animation-Style RPG Development Expertise
"A Significant Opportunity to Expand NC's Game Portfolio"
NCSoft announced on the 5th that it has made a 37 billion KRW investment in equity and publishing rights in the domestic subculture game specialist developer 'Big Game Studio.'
Through this investment, NCSoft secured the global publishing rights for Big Game's upcoming subculture genre title, "BREAKERS: Unlock The World," as well as equity in Big Game. The two companies will establish a long-term partnership for mutual growth and pursue close cooperation in game development, technology, and business areas.
Big Game Studio, led by CEO Choi Jae-young, was founded in 2020. The company possesses expertise in subculture genre games and advanced animation-style RPG (role-playing game) development capabilities.
Last year, they released the RPG "Black Clover Mobile: The Opening of Fate," based on the popular animation IP "Black Clover," to the global market, earning recognition for their development skills and game quality. Currently, they are independently developing the animation RPG BREAKERS.
NCSoft plans to continue investing to expand its game portfolio and global market presence. Previously, on the 30th of last month, NCSoft also announced an investment in Moon Rover Games, a Sweden-based shooting game specialist developer.
NCSoft co-CEO Park Byung-moo said, "With recent domestic and international investments, the acquisition of new IPs promised earlier this year has entered a full execution phase," adding, "Publishing BREAKERS is expected to be a meaningful opportunity to expand NCSoft's game portfolio." He continued, "By combining the development capabilities and expertise of both companies, we will introduce innovative games to the global market."
