KISA Launches Safe Browser Usage Campaign with Google, MS, and Naver

Automatic Login Raises Personal Data Leakage Concerns
Big Tech Jointly Responds to User Protection

The Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), together with Google, Microsoft, and Naver, is launching a campaign to support the safe use of internet browsers for the public.

KISA Launches Safe Browser Usage Campaign with Google, MS, and Naver

Browsers, used for various purposes such as online shopping and financial transactions, transmit sensitive personal information including login credentials and financial transaction details.

As users utilize features like automatic login and autofill for convenience, personal information stored on PCs may be exposed to risks such as malware infections.

Additionally, when using public PCs accessible to anyone, personal information can be unintentionally exposed to others, so users themselves need to exercise special caution regarding security.

KISA and global companies have agreed to jointly respond by informing the public about safe browser usage methods to protect users. They will share security guidelines that browser users and administrators should be aware of and provide simple and easy ways to apply these measures conveniently.

This campaign will be conducted through KISA’s BohoNara website and the social media channels of participating companies. Along with promoting security guidelines via infographics and card news, a guideline on how to configure browser security settings will be provided.

Lee Sang-jung, Director of KISA, stated, "We will collaborate with various domestic and international companies to prevent harm to the public and will make multifaceted efforts to realize practical damage prevention."
