Search and Seizure at Delivery Companies
Head Office Executives Also Booked
The police have launched a forced investigation into Seoul Metro Corporation amid allegations of corruption in the delivery of subway lockers.
On the 5th, the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul conducted a search and seizure at the headquarters of Seoul Metro Corporation located in Yongdap-dong, Seongdong-gu, as well as at the offices of its subsidiary, Seoul Urban Railway Engineering, and the locker supply manufacturer.
The police began the investigation after detecting signs of collusion between the subsidiary and the supplier during the process of replacing the locking devices installed in subway lockers with new disposable password (OTP) technology starting from February last year.
It was found that some employees of the subsidiary who were booked had previously worked at the same company as the president of the supplier before joining the subsidiary.
The police plan to book executives of the headquarters, the president of the supplier, and subsidiary employees on charges of breach of duty and verify the overall facts of the allegations.
