The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province is providing support for labor providers' 'industrial accident insurance' and 'paid sick leave.'
The support targets labor providers residing in Suwon, including delivery drivers, construction machinery operators, children's school bus drivers, freight truck owners at construction sites (water trucks, cargo cranes, aerial work platforms), and one-person delivery business owners.
Suwon announced that from June 5th this year, it will support 90% of the industrial accident insurance premium payments from January to June and is accepting applications for the 'Labor Providers Industrial Accident Insurance and Paid Sick Leave Support Project' starting from the 5th.
Applicants must be labor providers with a standard median income of 120% or less. After verifying the industrial accident insurance payment details, the support funds will be paid into the applicant's account in November. Applications must be submitted by September 27th.
The paid sick leave support project provides paid compensation for one day of health checkup and up to 12 days of paid compensation for hospital admission and discharge treatment (84,560 KRW per day).
The eligible labor providers include delivery drivers, quick service drivers, substitute drivers, and other workers in 18 occupations residing in Suwon, as well as one-person business owners in Suwon or those with business locations in Suwon engaged in six occupations including delivery drivers, quick service drivers, and substitute drivers.
Applicants must be labor providers with a standard median income of 100% or less. Support funds will be paid within one month after application. Applications must be submitted by November 29th.
Applications can be made through the Suwon city website (https://www.suwon.go.kr) or via 'Saewit Toktok.'
A Suwon city official stated, "We expect the Labor Providers Industrial Accident Insurance and Paid Sick Leave Support Project to help improve the working conditions of vulnerable labor groups."
