Djokovic Finally Wins Olympic Gold... Achieves 'Golden Grand Slam' [Paris Olympics]

Novak Djokovic (Serbia) won his first Olympic gold medal, achieving the 'Career Golden Grand Slam.'

On the 4th (Korean time), Djokovic defeated rising star Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) 2-0 (7-6 7-6) in the men's singles final of the 2024 Paris Olympic tennis event held at Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France.

With this, Djokovic added the Olympic gold medal to his victories in the four major tournaments: the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open.

Djokovic holds the record for the most major tournament wins in history (24 titles), but had a unique lack of success at the Olympics. He won a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics but finished fourth at both the 2012 London Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. At the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, he suffered a shocking first-round defeat.

With this victory, Djokovic became the fifth player in tennis history to achieve the Career Golden Grand Slam, following Andre Agassi, Serena Williams (both USA), Rafael Nadal (Spain), and Steffi Graf (Germany). He also avenged his loss to Alcaraz in last month's Wimbledon final.

Alcaraz aimed to become the youngest singles Olympic champion in history but fell short.
