Rising up to 48 degrees Celsius due to heat conduction
Amid nationwide heatwave warnings, four spectators at a professional baseball game complained of heat-related illnesses and were transported by ambulance.
A representative of the Doosan Bears stated on the 4th, "Yesterday, at the home game against the Kiwoom Heroes held at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul, five spectators complained of heat-related illnesses, and among them, four were reported to 119 and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital."
On the day of the game, a heatwave warning was issued across Seoul, and the temperature at Jamsil Stadium rose to 48 degrees Celsius due to radiant heat. However, the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) proceeded with games at four stadiums, exposing spectators directly to the heatwave.
Professional baseball established heatwave regulations in 2015 to allow game cancellations due to hot weather. According to Article 27 of the KBO League regulations, games can be canceled if the daily maximum temperature is expected to remain above 35 degrees Celsius for two or more consecutive days.
