"Representative Fiscal Populism"
The People Power Party's Council of Provincial Governors officially requested President Yoon Suk-yeol to exercise his veto power on the "25,000 KRW Support Law for All Citizens" (Special Measures Act on the Payment of Livelihood Recovery Support Funds) on the 4th, calling it a "typical fiscal populism."

In a statement issued that day, the council pointed out, "The law, passed under the opposition party's leadership, intends for the National Assembly, which reviews the budget, to exercise both budget formulation and review through a special law," adding, "This infringes on the government's budget formulation authority and is an unconstitutional act that violates the separation of powers as stipulated by the Constitution."
The council also stated, "Despite the massive budget of 1.3 trillion KRW being allocated, there has been no review whatsoever regarding the efficiency relative to the budget input," and emphasized, "The council recommends that the president exercise his veto power on this bill."
The council includes 12 members: Yoo Jeong-bok, Mayor of Incheon; Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul; Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan; Hong Jun-pyo, Mayor of Daegu; Lee Jang-woo, Mayor of Daejeon; Kim Doo-gyeom, Mayor of Ulsan; Choi Min-ho, Mayor of Sejong; Kim Jin-tae, Governor of Gangwon; Kim Young-hwan, Governor of Chungbuk; Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungnam; Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk; and Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam.
