"Not a Single Day Has Passed Without Thinking of the Children"
A story has emerged about a wife who unilaterally took their children and disappeared, then five years later demanded money saying, "I will let you see the children."
On the 2nd, JTBC reported that IT developer Kim Juhwan is struggling because he lost contact with his children.
Previously, Kim worked in Japan and married a Korean woman there in 2015, with whom he had two daughters. Conflicts arose, and in July 2019, while Kim was at work, his wife disappeared with the children. Kim reported this to the Japanese police, but they said, "This is not a missing person case. Wait for contact from the other party."
Afterwards, Kim’s fight to see his children began. However, he had no idea where the children were. He tried to file civil and criminal lawsuits to gain visitation rights, but they were ineffective.
When Kim requested visitation rights, his wife claimed "domestic violence," blocking his chances to meet the children.
In January last year, Kim reported his wife to the Korean police for "abduction and enticement of minors," but the Korean police also refused to investigate, saying it was not subject to investigation. Meanwhile, in January this year, Kim’s wife posted on social media that life was difficult and hinted at a possible extreme action with the children, demanding "Send about 500,000 yen (approximately 4.6 million KRW) and I will let you see the children."
When Kim asked to meet in person, his wife insisted on a bank transfer and then cut off contact again. Kim told JTBC, "Not a single day has passed without me forgetting the children." In June, the prosecution ordered a reinvestigation on charges of "abduction and enticement."
