"Do Not Go to Rice Fields or Farms During the Day"…Nationwide Heatwave Advisory

As heatwave warnings have been issued nationwide, it is advised to avoid going out to rice paddies and fields during the hottest daytime hours.


On the 4th, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs made this request.


So far this year, 242 cases of heat-related illnesses have occurred in rural areas' rice paddies, fields, and vinyl greenhouses due to the heatwave. There have been 2 deaths.


On the 2nd, a tragic incident occurred in Miryang, Gyeongnam, where a heatwave warning was in effect. A 67-year-old farmer collapsed while working in the field and was taken to the hospital but ultimately passed away.


Song Miryeong, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, stated, "Farm work should be stopped during the hottest daytime hours, and sufficient rest must be taken," and urged, "The Rural Development Administration, NongHyup, and local governments should strengthen publicity to prevent heat-related illnesses among farmers."
